Joan M. Toeppe, 85, of Tiffin and formerly of Wickliffe, OH, died on Thursday, May 14, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Tiffin. She was born on May 14, 1924 in Clyde, OH to Karl A. and Anna L. (Bookmyer) Hutchinson. Joan graduated from Bellevue High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at the College of St. Teresa, Minnesota in Chemistry and French. She also earned a Master of Arts & Library Science Degree from the University of Michigan. Joan was a Technical Librarian for Diamond Shamrock Corp. in Painesville, OH; National Lead Co. of Ohio in Cincinnati, OH; Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM and the Kellogg Co., in Battle Creek, MI retiring in 1982. On October 12, 1968 she married Gerald E. Toeppe in Willoughby, OH and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2005. Joan was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Tiffin, the Special Libraries Association, the American Chemical Society and the Altrusa Club.
Surviving are many loving and caring nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 17, from 1-5 p.m. with a wake service, at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home, Fremont. A Funeral Mass will be said on Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fremont.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
