Doris L. Uhlbeck

Doris L. (Chalfin/Hoffman) Uhlbeck, 79, of Oak Harbor Rd., Fremont died late Tuesday afternoon, February 17, 2009 at Fremont Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 10, 1929 in Scott Township to Carl C. and Florence (Main) Chalfin Sr. Doris graduated from Risingsun High School in 1947 and had worked at Tonys Bakery until marrying her first husband and raising her family. She also worked at Singer Controls/Eaton for 30 years and lastly at the Super K Mart for 5 years, retiring in 1997.

On July 10, 1948 she married Theodore A. Hoffman Jr. at St. Marys Catholic Church, Millersville, he died December 6, 1966. She then married John Uhlbeck on January 10, 1969 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Fremont, and he died April 3, 1978. Doris was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and Cribbage and watching tennis.

Surviving are children Patricia E. (James W.) Heyman of Fremont, Christine A. (Thomas) Lochotzki of Sandusky, Joseph A. (Judy) Hoffman of Clyde, and Rebecca S. (Jim) Seele of Fremont; 19 grandchildren, Shelley A., James C., Carey L. and Dustin F. (Kathy) Heyman, Aaron (Sarah), Libby, Ben, Cora, Sam, Alex & Ross Lochotzki, Kelly Davis, Amanda Hoffman, Mary Jo (Mike) Perdue & David Hoffman, Cassie J. (Steve) Carroll, Darcy (Tom) Kubat, Kylie (Jack Ferguson) Lunsford, Cory (Kylie) Lunsford; 16 great-grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa Halbisen, Aubrey Heyman, Nikki Heyman, Nathan Loomis, Brianna Heyman, Riley P. Heyman, Hunter & Isaac Lochotzki, Casey Lochotzki, Emily Davis, & Madison Stout, Elijah & Meliek Johnson, Gavin Kubat; and a sister, Cora (Ernie) Stotler of Tiffin. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; four brothers, Charles, Harold Bud, Gerald Bus, Carl Ed Chalfin Jr.; two sisters, Margaret Risner and Lila Frisch; one grandson, Frank Lochotzki; and two great-granddaughters, Aryn Elizabeth Heyman and Erin Lochotzki.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:30 at St. Anns Catholic Church, Fremont with Rev.Tom Extejt officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2-4p.m.& 6-8p.m. with a wake service beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Burial will be at St. Joseph/Calvary Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Anns Building Fund.
