Ricardo Villarreal, Jr., 58 of Gibsonburg, died Wednesday evening at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon. He was born on August 28, 1947 in Elmore to the now deceased Ricardo and Raquel (Barrientos) Villarreal, Sr. Ricardo was a 1965 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. On January 11, 1968 he married Alicia Arriaga in Fremont and she survives. Ricardo was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, and was a former Pee Wee Baseball Coach and he was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and Indians. Ricardo loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are children, Rosemary Rosie (Jaime) Mancha of Gibsonburg, Ricardo (Julie) III of Helena, Hugo of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Alicia, Jaime II, Elena, Nina, Marie, Hugo II and Antonio; 4 brothers and 5 sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg, where vigil services will be that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
