Lorena Hattie (Risch) Voelzke, age 98, more recently of Bethany Place in Fremont died Saturday evening, September 30, at the Bethesda Care Center, Fremont where she had been a resident for several years.
Lorena was born on April 5, 1908 in Oak Harbor, Ohio to Frederick and Dora (Borck) Risch. A homemaker, she was very involved with the St. Johns Lutheran Church by not only being a member and former custodian but by being active in its Altar Guild, Charity Circle and the Dorcas Society. Lorena enjoyed quilting and crocheting and loved playing Bingo.
On August 4, 1928 she married Edwin A Voelzke in Oak Harbor. He died on April 4, 1972.
Surviving Lorena are her children, Robert (Louise) Voelzke of Fremont, Indiana, Norma Stiger of Tiffin, Janet (Lawrence) Keim of Old Fort, Ginny (Joe) Bender of Redlands, CA and David (Linda) Voelzke of Fremont, Oh and sister in law Gertrude (Arthur) Risch of Oak Harbor. 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren also survive.
Her parents, husband, daughters Marilyn Binkley and infant Kay Alice, 3 brothers and 2 sisters precede her in death.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 3, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Fremont where there will be an additional hour of visitation prior to the funeral. Pastor Robert Quillen will officiate.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.
Memorials may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church or to the Bethesda Care Center.
