Frank Joseph Wasserman, 82, of Helena, died Wednesday morning at his residence. He was born on October 8, 1923 in Fremont to the now deceased Otto and Frances (Pahl) Wasserman. He was a 1941 graduate of Clyde High School, where he excelled in athletics. On September 11, 1945 he married Thelma Ferrenberg at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg and she survives. Frank was a lifelong farmer and also worked for the Ohio Dept. of Transportation until retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, a Charter Member and Past Treasurer of the retired Eagles Activity Club, past Vice President of the Fremont Eagles, former Helena Volunteer Fireman, coach of little league baseball in Helena and a Lakota Athletic Booster. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing shuffleboard and watching sports, especially Ohio State and Cleveland teams.
Surviving are children, Phillip Pete (Virginia) Wasserman of Mt. Gilead, OH, Kenneth (Karen) Wasserman of Fremont, Richard (Connie) Wasserman, Stephen (Bonnie) Wasserman, Barry (Susan) Wasserman, Debra (Jim) Parsons; brother, Jerome all of Helena; sisters, Agnes Vandiford of Fremont, Mary Turco of Gibsonburg and Ruth Gerbich of Gibsonburg; twelve grandchildren and 7 great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Wasserman, sisters, Anna Sterling, Martha Picciuto, an infant sister, Rita; and brother, James Wasserman.
Visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., with a vigil service in the evening, at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or St. Michaels Maintenance Fund.
