Jerome H. Jerry Wasserman, 88, of Helena, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Windsor Lane Health Care Center, Gibsonburg. He was born on January 1, 1920 in Fremont to the now deceased Otto and Frances (Pahl) Wasserman. Jerry served in the Navy during WWII and later was a foreman at the Pfizer lime plant retiring in 1982. On October 12, 1942 he married Emily Nebergall in Gibsonburg and she survives. Jerry was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, the American Legion and a life member of the Helena Fire Department, where he was the oldest surviving member.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Carol (Michael) Ziebold of Tiffin, Kathleen (Michael) Atkinson-Fix of Fredericksburg, VA and Thomas (Carol) Wasserman of Helena; 9 grandsons; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Agnes Vanderford of Clyde, Mary (Dan) Turco and Ruth (Ted) Gerbich both of Gibsonburg. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings James and Frank Wasserman, Martha Piccuito, Rita Wasserman and Anna Mae Sterling.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday evening. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Metzgar Cemetery, Helena.
Memorial donations may be made to the Helena Volunteer Fire Department or to a charity of the donors choice in Jerrys memory.
