Rufus White, 83 of Fremont died early Tuesday morning at Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont. He was born on September 1, 1921 to Tom and Margret (Lurry) White in Dawson,GA. Rufus served in the U.S. Army Transportation Unit during WWII. On December 8, 1947, he married Fairh Lee Surratt in Detroit, MI and she survives. He worked for Guardian Glass as a glasscutter for over 20 years and Wal-Mart in Fremont for 10 years as a greeter. Rufus enjoyed attending church, baseball and football.
Also surviving Rufus is a sister, Susie Mai Crite of Toledo. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Saloman White.
Rufus was a member of the Victory Christian Fellowship and Fremont VFW.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11th at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Martin L. Johnson and Pastor Duane Dunfee officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery with military rites performed by the Fremont VFW and American Legion.
Memorial donations may be made to Victory Christian Fellowship.
