Joseph P. Wojdyla, 88 of Fremont, died Monday morning at his home. He was born on September 23, 1918 in Fremont to the now deceased Joseph and Frances (Mohon) Wojdyla. Joseph served in the US Army, beginning with basic training at Camp Walters, TX December 12, 1941. He enlisted in the Reserve Corps after basic training and he also had served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1936. On December 24, 1942 he married Mildred Leona VanNess in St. Casimirs Church. She died December 2, 2004. Joseph worked at the Sugar Beet Plant, then Tonys Bakery where he met his wife. He was employed at the Herbrand Corporation where he ran a forge. Joseph was a carpenter by trade retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong member of St. Casimirs Catholic Church.
Surviving are sons, Joseph N. (Darlene), John O., and James E. Wojdyla all of Fremont; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons Dennis Michael and Dorrin Paul Wojdyla; siblings, Roman Wojdyla, John Wojdyla, Stella Kosta, Mary Batey, Helena Ibaszko, Domacela Wojdyla and Veronica Halota.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Don Mueller Officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
