Loretta Anna Jane Zilles, 100, of Upper Sandusky, OH and formerly of Fremont, died early Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky. She was born on May 13, 1910 to the now deceased Lawrence T. and Amanda (Russell) Miller in rural Sandusky. Loretta graduated from Sandusky High School. She was joined in marriage with George Zilles on August 1, 1947 in Hessville, OH, and he passed away on February 14, 1990.
Loretta and George were owners/operators of Zilles Refrigeration, and she later worked as a credit manager for Magruder Hospital. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. Loretta was fondly known as the Mail Lady at Fairhaven Community where she lived, and she recently celebrated her 100th birthday there with family and fellow residents.
Survivors include her children, Betty (Edward) Meggitt of Vickery, Ginny (Gary) Brant of Norwalk, and Diane (Jim) Troxel of Upper Sandusky; step-children, Joyce Smith of Fremont, Dorothy (Bob) Lamalie of Marco Island, FL, Paul (Helen) Zilles and Robert (Lil) Zilles both of Fremont, and Leonard Zilles of Longwood, FL; brothers, Lewis B. and Paul C. Miller of Sandusky; grandchildren, Craig and Jamie Troxel and Melanie Shock all of Upper Sandusky, Tracy Troxel of Fremont, John Brant of Las Vegas, NV, Penny Stang of Norwalk, Carla Shaw of New London, Edward Meggitt of Temperance, MI, and Bruce and Kenneth Meggitt and Marie Greene all of Vickery; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Loretta was preceded in death by brothers, Delbert Miller and Wayne Miller; step-daughter, Norma Jean Gahn; and great-grandson, Hunter Troxel.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 24, 20210 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 PM with Pastor Paul Gruetter officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation, the Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donors choice in Lorettas memory.
