Daniel J. Zura, 67 of Fremont, died at his home on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. He was born on June 5, 1939 in Put-in-Bay to the now deceased Joseph and Anna (Ontko) Zura. Daniel was a 1957 graduate of Put-in-Bay High School and 1961 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Degree in Education. On November 9, 1963 he married Lynne Disrude at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Put-in-Bay, OH and she survives. Daniel was a science teacher at Fremont Jr. High, Middle School and worked summers for the Miller Boat Line and at Heinemans Winery on Put-in-Bay. He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Church, Put-in-Bay and Sacred Heart Church in Fremont. Daniel enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and bird watching. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who he loved dearly.
Also surviving are children, Mark of Lakewood, OH, Leanne (Carl) Harrison of Stow, OH and Allison Zura of Lakewood, OH; grandchildren, Emma Harrison and Zoe Zura; siblings, JoAnn Miller of Sandusky, Richard Zura of Bayview, Sue (Ed) Moxley of Vickery; In-Laws, Steve (Diane) Disrude of Willis, TX, Anne Disrude of Jersey City, NJ; niece, Laura Disrude of Houston, TX; nephews, Michael Moxley of Columbus, OH, Matt and Michael Disrude both of Dallas, TX.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Put-in-Bay with Rev. Jeff Nordhaus officiating. Burial will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Put-in-Bay.
