Florence Perrine moved onto the next life peacefully and comfortably early Thursday, December first. Born to Miriam and Kenneth Dodds June 4, 1921 she grew up in Westview, Pennsylvania and went on to attend Grove City College. There she achieved a Bachelor's degree in music and met the love of her life, Jack Perrine. Sharing a love of God, music and animals, they eloped to Sioux Falls and were married in 1944. Relocating many times because of Jack's service in the Navy, she worked as a librarian and a typist until he found a teaching job and they moved to New Hampshire. After giving birth to their first daughter, Kathie, they moved to Lorain, Ohio where they had two more daughters, Valerie and Georgia. Finally settling in Toledo, Ohio they lived a happy life together. Florence was an accomplished seamstress, making the girls' clothes as they were growing up and ultimately passing on her love of sewing to them. She was an equally talented musician, playing the organ for Hampton Park Christian Church and accompanying the Toledo Opera Chorus through the years. She also accompanied many students' competitive performances and volunteered at Save-A-Pet. An inspiration and pleasure to all who knew her, Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her parents, Miriam and Kenneth. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Kathie Sherck (Jim), Valerie Demar (Doug), and Georgia VanAlst (Mark), her grandchildren Stephanie Gustavson (Mark), Lisa Sherck, Steve Demar (Dorean), Nathan Demar, April Price (Andy), Allison Dehoff (Dan), Ben Demar, and Emily McDonald (Ray), Chris, Abby and Liz VanAlst. She also had many great-grandchildren. In life, Florence put her family and her faith first, and now she has left this world to shine in Heaven with her husband, and the many other loved ones already waiting for her. We were all blessed to have Florence in our lives and she will be greatly missed. We will cherish her memory forever. Services are private with no visitation, but donations can be sent to the Society for the Protection of Animals, P.O. Box 1047, Fremont, OH 43420 or a charity of the donor's choice in Florence's memory. Burial will be at Toledo Memorial Park.
