Joan Marie Diekman, 78, of Hessville died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 13, 1933 in Tiffin, OH to Joseph and Cecelia (Keefe) Schleter. She graduated in 1951 from Tiffin Calvert High School. In 1956 she married Ralph R. Diekman in Fremont, OH and he preceded her in death in 2001. Joan was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fremont. She was a home creator, loving wife and mother. She was a volunteer at Share & Care, the Gibsonburg school library, and chauffer for all of her children's school activities. She loved all things pink, from their house inside and out, most of her clothing, a 1958 Rambler station wagon, and even her mailbox, which she painted after her husband passed away. Joan was a devout believer in Jesus Christ, and is now in heaven with her soul mate Ralph and her savior Jesus Christ. She will be missed dearly by all those who loved her. Surviving Joan are her children, Trenda (James) Geller of Huron, Patricia (James) Eckelberry of Tiffin, Donna Walker of Luckey, Steven (Mary Ann) Diekman of Hessville, Eric (Mary Jo) Diekman of Medina, Barbara (Matt) Chovanec and Gina (Mark) Binsack all of Fremont, Daniel (Tonya) Diekman of Lindsey; siblings, James Schleter of Lima, Carolyn Metzger of Toledo, Larry Schleter of Boca Raton, FL, Reverend Edward Schleter of Fremont, Joseph Schleter of Carey, Fred Schleter of Tiffin, Janet Feasel of Carey; grandchildren, Tanya (Jerry) Nowicki, Broderick Lee, Jay & Andrea Eckelberry, Zach, Brad & Mallory Walker, Christopher Diekman, Allisa & Nicholas Diekman, Andrew & Luke Chovanec, Leah Binsack; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Amber Nowicki. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother; Robert Schleter Visitation will be at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg on Friday, December 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at Faith Lutheran Church, Fremont on Saturday, December 10 at 11 a.m. with one hour of additional visitation prior to services. Pastor Robert Young will officiate. Burial will be at Faith Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice in Joan's memory.
