Maxine Ann Schumaker

Maxine A. Schumaker, 80, of Fremont, died early Friday, December 9, 2011 at Bethesda Care Center. She was born on March 2, 1931 in Helena to Robert L. and Carrie E. (Gillespie) Copley. On June 9, 1956 she married Arthur Henry Schumaker, Jr. in Angola, IN and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2005. Maxine was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid at Shiloh, United Women of the Methodist Church, the Golden Threads, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles REAC and the Women of the Moose. She served on the committee of the Helena-Rollersville School Reunion and was also a former Campfire Leader. Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker, extending her love as a foster parent to 28 children. Surviving are daughters, Annie Greider (Ray Graham) of Fremont, Anita (Tom) Boyd of Tiffin and Brenda Slone of KY; grandchildren, Kylie (Tony) Pooch, Jason (Mandy) Carnicom, Andrew and Daine Greider, Deanna Boyd, Shannon Felter, Scott Slone, Rick Slone; great-grandchildren, Troy & Ellie Pooch, Brandon & Justin Carnicom, Mandi Smith, Aiden Slone; brothers, William (Patsy) Copley of Lindsey, James (Jeanne) Copley of Fostoria and Roy (Linda) Copley of Gibsonburg, sisters Beverly Mullen of Washington Court House, OH and Wendy (Donald) Jolliff of Delaware, OH; step-sister, Mary Brown of Helena. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Charles Halladay; grandson, Matt Felter; brothers Fred & Steve Copley. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Services will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Judith Frank officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Garden, Clyde. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
