Lawrence Leroy "Larry" Ottney, 75 of Gibsonburg died Monday, December 19, 2011 surrounded by his family at the home of his previous wife "Dee". He was born on November 30, 1936 in Gibsonburg to Guy Leroy & Maude May (Fox) Ottney. Larry attended Gibsonburg schools and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg. On March 19, 1954 he married Virginia "Dee" Carnicom in Gibsonburg and after 30 years they divorced. He then married Phyllis A. Brown Foster on December 30, 1987 in Florida. Phyllis preceded him in death on June 19, 2004. Larry worked for General Dynamics in Lima, OH as a crane operator for many years where he later retired. In 2006 Larry received his GED which he was so very proud of. He also was a member of the Fremont Moose Lodge and enjoyed playing cards. He is survived by his former wife; Virginia "Dee" Ottney, daughter; Kathy (Mark) Garner, grand-daughter; Rachel Garner all of Gibsonburg, step-grandchildren; Kimberly (Jason) White of Pt Clinton & Kevin (Kylie) Garner of Clyde, step-great-grandchildren; Clayton & Madison White, Kevin Garner, Jr., and Kolton, Karcen, & Kooper Garner. Larry is also survived by his sister; Ester Lorenzen of Genoa. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife Phyllis, and grandsons; Mark Garner & Justin Ottney, siblings; Alvin & Willis Ottney, Hazel Van Ness, Marge Hoy, Florence Damschroder and Bonnie Hickle. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11 AM the funeral home with Pastor Fritz Merkes officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at W. Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice in Larry's memory.
