Marvin E. Boucher, 84, formerly of Fremont, died on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Birchaven Community in Findlay, OH. He was born on September 15, 1927 in Green Springs, OH to David W. and Lucy C. (McKeen) Boucher. Marvin was a 1945 graduate of Old Fort High School where he played in the pep band, on the basketball and baseball teams. He served in the Navy during WWII as a Seaman First Class. Marvin earned the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and he was honorably discharged on July 8, 1946. On September 20, 1946 he married Mary Jean Taylor at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin and she survives. Marv was a manager at the Havenshire Dairy and Sani Pure Dairy, a laborer at Swift-Eckrich, a school bus driver for the Fremont City Schools, retiring in 2001 and an assistant at the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary and Herman-Kinn Funeral Homes for a number of years. He was a life member of the American Legion, a member of the VFW, the Moose and the Eagles. Marv was instrumental in starting the Sons of the American Legion Post 121, where he also served as Chaplain from 2003-2005, Commander and Color Guard. He enjoyed fishing, making fishing lures, bowling, traveling, woodworking, dancing, hunting, feeding the birds & squirrels. And he enjoyed his cat, Howard. Marv loved vacationing at Marble Lake, MI. He coached Little League Baseball with Joe Lotycz between 1956-1966 and their team won numerous championships. Marv was an honest, caring person who touched so many lives by the work he has done, he will dearly missed. Surviving in addition to his wife, are his children, Ronald L. (Cecilia) Boucher of Fremont and Deborah (John) Frederick of Findlay; grandchildren, Ryan, Katie and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Alayna, Allison and Annie; siblings, Leon Boucher and Susan Richey. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel; siblings, Lloyd Boucher, Elbert Boucher and Illa Jean Kelbley. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Meg Knape, Bridge Hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion and VFW. Memorials may be made to the Birchard Public Library, Bridge Hospice of Findlay or the Alzheimer's Association in Marv's memory.
