Robert "Bob" Roland Dix, Sr., 73, of Gibsonburg died late Wednesday evening, January 4, at Windsor Lane Health Care Center, Gibsonburg. Born on August 4, 1938 in Helena, Bob was a son to the now deceased Zenas and Alma (Kramer) Dix. He graduated in 1957 from Port Clinton High School. Later, January 17, 1959, he married Janice R. Dages in Port Clinton. She survives in Gibsonburg. Bob worked as a machinist at Norton Manufacturing, retiring in 2000. He also served on the Gibsonburg Police Department from 1965-1979, serving as Chief from 1972-1979. He loved his family and enjoyed spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was an outdoor enthusiast, liked to hunt and work with wood. Surviving him are his children Robert Jr., William, Bradley (June), Laurie (Kevin) Peters all of Gibsonburg and Steven of Pemberville; eleven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and siblings Marilyn Bagley of Fremont and Kenneth Dix of Bowling Green. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Aaron Dix and siblings Helen "Dixie" Witt and Richard Dix. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, January 7, 4-8 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where a celebration of his life will begin at 8p.m. Rev. Fritz Merkes will officiate. Burial at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg will be at a later date. Memorials contributions may be made to the care of his family, Heartland Hospice of Fremont or to a charity of the donor's choice.
