James L. "Lewie" Oller, 76, of Gibsonburg died January 11, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on Aug. 25, 1935 in Staten Island, NY, and raised by his loving parents Sam & Florence (Edwards) Verardi. Lewie was a veteran who served during the Korean War for the US Army. Lewie was a man of all trades. He worked for Pfizer for 30 years and the Village of Gibsonburg for 14 years. Lewie was a village Councilman for 7 years. He served on the Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years, serving as the Fire Chief for 8 years, Assistant to the Chief for 10 years and Assistant to the Captain for 7 years. He was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church and served on the finance committee and was a trustee. Lewie also coached little league baseball for the American Legion for 5 years. Surviving is his wife, Joanne (Shull) Oller; children LuAnn Bullion of Toledo, Kimberly (Douglas) Klotz of Fostoria and Cynthia (Pauline) Oller of Gibsonburg; siblings, Margaret Delegro of FL and Joseph Verardi of WI; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Timothy Oller. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 4-5 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg. A celebration of life memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. Pastor Betty Wineland will officiate. Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg has been entrusted with Lewie's arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department or to Faith United Methodist Church.
