Rural Fremont resident, Donald J. Daugherty, 61, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. Born on September 11, 1950 in Jamboree, KY, Don was a son of Earlin and Priscilla (Estep) Daugherty. He attended various courses at Terra Community College and worked at the Ford Motor Company, Sandusky plant, as a set up technician. He retired from there in October 1999 after over 31 years of service. Donald enjoyed the outdoors and just being outside, was a former vice president of the Isaac Walton League in Fremont and was a fisherman. He was a person of many talents, liked to laugh, having a good sense of humor and playing the banjo. He used to bowl on several area leagues. Most notably, he loved his dogs; having no less than two at any one time On November 30, 1968 he married Judy Mathis in Fremont. His wife of 43 years survives. Also surviving are his children Denise Daugherty and Earlin Daugherty both of Fremont; grandchildren, Ashley, Destany, Autumn and Amber; brother Andy (Carol) Slone of Fremont and several extended family members and friends. Don is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Barbara Hineline and Linda Updike. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont where services will be Thursday, February 16, 10:30 a.m. Dennis Bork will officiate the service. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
