Genoa resident, Kenneth E. "Gene" Kelley, 79, died early Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born on March 16, 1932 in Coal Grove, Ohio to William and Ruth (Dillon) Kelley. He graduated from Coal Grove High School and served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War, being stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. On October 10, 1959 he married Norma Jean Riedmaier at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg. She passed in March 2003. Kenneth worked and retired from Hunt Wesson in Rossford and earned his boilers license before his retirement. A strong man of faith, being raised Southern Baptist, he attended the Lemoyne Baptist Church and enjoyed reading his Bible. He liked to woodwork, fish and walk his dog, "Buddy." Most of all, Kenneth loved his children and grandchildren and was outspoken as to how proud he was of all of them. Surviving are daughters, Nancy Jean (Greg) Hoffmann of Perrysburg and Deborah Sue Pressley of Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Zackery Paul & Clarissa Grace Pressley and Kyle Jacob Hoffmann; and brothers Carl, Ronny, Donny, Wayne "Frank" and Sam Kelley. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers William and Paul David Kelley and infant sister Eleanor Kelley. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg where services will be Friday, March 2, 10:30 a.m. Kenneth's great nephew, Rev. Andy Lovejoy, will officiate. Burial with military rites will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to aid in the fight against degenerative glaucoma.
