Douglas R. Henry, 74, of Oak Harbor, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Physicians Choice Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on May 1, 1937 in Fremont to Carlton and Florence (Hetrick) Henry. In 1960 he married Constance Fisher and she preceded him in death in 1996. Douglas was an Army Veteran serving during the Berlin Crisis. He owned and operated his business, Doug Henry Excavating and retired in 2006. Doug was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Moose, Eagles, VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed NASCAR, traveling and gardening. Surviving is his companion of 25 years, Karen Peltier; children, Russ (Connie) Henry, Paul (Tracy) Henry both of Fremont, Jackie (Aaron) McClure of Marblehead, OH and Keith (Katie) Peltier of Poplar, WI; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Rex Henry and sister, Ginger Messecar. Visitation will be on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Young officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military services provided by the American Legion and the VFW posts. A luncheon will be held at the Fremont Moose following all the services. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association in Doug's memory.
