Dorothy Rodd, 92, of Helena died Friday, Mar. 23, at the Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Born on Sept. 22, 1919 in Toledo, Dorothy was a daughter to Glen W. and Matilda H. (Rojewski) Sworden. She graduated from Bradner High School in 1937 and on Aug. 3, 1940 married David L. Rodd at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg. He passed on May 5, 1979. A loving wife, parent and grandparent, Dorothy worked as a homemaker and enjoyed baking, playing crosswords, gardening, crocheting, and tending to her flowers. She was a member of the former Garfield Church of Christ in Gibsonburg and the Rollersville Civic Club. She was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving her are children, David E. (Ruth) Rodd of Gibsonburg and Sue Kaiser of Lexington, KY; grandchildren Jim (Susan) and Steve (Carrie) Rodd, Tim (Janet), Mike and Dan (Anna) Kaiser, Beth (Tony) Hornyak and Brett Kachenmeister; 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Betty Snyder of Fostoria and Richard Sworden of Tucson, AZ. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Glen and Arthur Sworden, Avis Krotzer and infant siblings Loretta and William. Visitation will be Tuesday, Mar. 27, 2-8 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg where services will be on Wednesday, 1 p.m. Rev. Betty Wineland will officiate. Burial will be at Metzgar Cemetery, Helena. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandusky County Heart Fund or to the Helena Volunteer Fire Dept.
