Fremont resident, Robert (Bob) Sterling, 58, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family in North Port, FL. He was born on August 11, 1953 in Fremont to Okee & Anna May (Wasserman) Sterling. Bob graduated from Gibsonburg High School. In 1975 he married Betty Kelbley at First Baptist Church in Tiffin. He worked for Henry Gurtzweiler Local 55 as an Ironworker until his retirement in 2009. Bob was an avid sports fan, who cheered on his teams; The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed creating and building new projects. For the last 6 years he has enjoyed watching his children become parents themselves and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob loved having the opportunity to live in Florida with his loving wife and faithful dog, Desi. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sterling; children, Corey Sterling of Delaware, OH, Jacob (Ashley) Sterling of Riverview, FL and Nicole (John) Perez of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Jacoby and Landyn Sterling of Delaware, Sophia Perez of Fremont and Noah Sterling of Riverview; siblings, Jim (Susie) Sterling of North Port, FL, Betty (Dan) Pasch of Peoria, AZ, Linda (Fred) Haubert of Lititz, PA, Barb (Tom) Kohl of Piqua, OH, Lori Conley (Denis McLaughlin) of Helena, OH; father-in-law, Herman Kelbley (Audru Zimmerman). Visitation will be on Thursday, April 5th, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Grace Community Church; 900 Smith Road, Fremont, OH 43420, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer will officiate. Burial will be held privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Memorial Donations may be made to Grace Community Church Orphanage Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
