Frances "KiKa" Torres, 76, of Gibsonburg, died May 7, 2012 at Riverview Nursing home in Oak Harbor. She was born on October 3rd 1935 in Laredo, TX to Salvador & Cruz (Almendarez) Melchor. On her birthday in 1953, she married Abram Torres, Sr. and he survives. As a supportive wife, Frances was a homemaker to their 6 children: John Torres of Portsmouth, OH, Sylvia Torres, Abram "Beatle" (Angie Salinas) Torres Jr., Anita "Penny" Saucedo, Virginia (Santos) Bocanegra all of Fremont and Jaime (Roxanne Woods)Torres of Gibsonburg. Also surviving is her sister, Petra Obregon of Fremont; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings and 1 great-grandchild. Affectionately known as "Grandma Bingo," Frances enjoyed playing bingo, going to flea markets and garage sales and loved the color purple. Visitation will be on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Vigil will be conducted during the evening visitation at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Ted Miller and Deacon Rene Gonzalez. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence & Michael's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association
