John "Jack" Lee Mayak, 73 of Fremont, died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at his home. He was born on December 11, 1938 in Lorain to Anthony and Garnet (Cox) Mayak. John was a 1956 graduate of Elyria High School. He served in the US Navy for four years beginning in 1957. On October 23, 1982 he married Nancy Michaels in Elyria, OH and she survives. John was a Stationary Engineer at Stanadyne and was a handyman for the Mid City Mobile Home Park retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Clyde Eagles and the Masons. John enjoyed trains and volunteered at the Mad River Railroad Museum in Bellevue. He also enjoyed lighthouses and Johnny Cash music. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Dan (Laurie) Mayak of Loveland, OH, Conni Mayak Sempsrott of Lebanon, OH, Cathy Lynn (Lance) La Burdy of Livonia, MI and Ted Landers of Raeford, NC; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Tom) Botamer of LaGrange, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael "Mick" Landers and a sister, Sally Tonry. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Rev. Roger Bishop will officiate. The Clyde Eagles will also be present before the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital in John's memory.
