Virginia Pendleton

Virginia Jane Boomhower Pendleton, 95, died on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Elmwood of Fremont. She will now rest without pain until she is called by her Lord and Savior at His coming. Virginia was born on December 23, 1916 in Battle Creek, MI to Jessie Long and Louis Boomhower. She attended Nazareth Academy in Kalamazoo, MI. She lived in Jackson, MI, Springfield, OH and Cincinnati, OH where she graduated from Withrow High School. She married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Howard Pendleton on June 20, 1936 and they were married for 69 years. She was a beautician when they lived in Springfield, OH and in her 40's became an LPN nurse in Charleston, WV where her husband had transferred from Columbia Gas Company. She participated in many activities such as Garden Club, Hospital Auxiliary, a Christian Mission group, PTA. When they retired to Lakeland, FL, she was very involved in activities at Carpenters and she played the piano at Elmwood Assisted Living for her pleasure and many residents who would come and listen. Music was in her genes as her father was a professional violinist and she played piano from a very young age. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband on August 11, 2005; parents, and her stepfather, Carl Pershing, and son-in-law, Rev. R. Ervin Walther on September 21, 2006. She is survived by one daughter Virginia "Penny" Walther; grandsons Timothy Walther of Dundee, MI and Mark (Lisa) Walther of Fremont; and six great-grandchildren, Tony, Tarah, and Truman, Jordan, Stephanie and Kayleigh Walther. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 (her wedding anniversary) at 10:30 a.m. at Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 900 North St., Fremont, OH 43420 with visitation with the family at 9:30 and luncheon to follow at St. John's Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover St. Pastor Joseph Lees will officiate. Virginia will be cremated according to her wishes and buried in Vale Cemetery, Springfield, OH with her husband and other family members. We thank the kind and professional caretakers, nurses, cooks and activities directors at Elmwood Assisted Living of Fremont for their compassionate, loving care. God has given them special understanding and patience in their vocation as a gift to their residents. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover St., Fremont, OH or Elmwood Assisted Living of Fremont, 1545 Fangboner Rd., Fremont, OH 43420.
