John W. Limestahl

April 4, 1912 — June 24, 2012

John W. Limestahl, 100 of Fremont passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Parkview Care Center, Fremont. He was born on April 4, 1912 in Fremont to Chris F. & Bess (Stower) Limestahl. John attended Bowling Green Schools and enlisted in the US Army during WWII as a Military Policeman. He served from November 1942 to March 1946 receiving the American Theater Ribbon, WW II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. In April 1964 John married Virginia M. Hull in Fremont and she preceded him in death on August 31, 1994. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose Lodge, the American Legion and a life member of the Sandusky County Sportsman Club, he also loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his dog "Babe". John worked for the city of Fremont as a garbage truck driver and also for Fremont Athletic Supply Co. Surviving are his children; Janice (John) Weaver of Fremont, Marlene (Don) Burgess of Fremont, Norleen "Susie" Burhows of Oak Harbor, Joe (Helen) Baumer of Kansas City, MO and Kathy (David) Ackerman of Fremont. He is also survived by his special companion; Betty Braley of Fremont, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Limestahl. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont at 11 AM with Deacon Jim Hammer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont with military rites preformed by the American Legion and the VFW Post. Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
