Theresa M. Hoffman, 99, died peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at her home in Helena. She was born the 3rd of 12 children to Frank and Anna T. (Siler) Sheets on March 4, 1913, in Defiance County Ohio. She attended St. Michael's School and graduated from St. John's Commercial School in Defiance in 1929. She later went to Fremont and was joined in marriage to Edward J. Hoffman on June 15, 1940. He passed on October 25, 1982. She retired in 1972 from Joseph's Department Store where she worked as a sales clerk for over 15 years. Mrs. Hoffman belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville and its Rosary Altar Society, St. Francis Home Auxilliary of Tiffin, a former Daughter of Isabella and an associate member of the Sisters of Mercy having made her covenant April 13, 1985. Theresa loved to serve and volunteered one day a week for over 20 years to St. Bernadine Home in Fremont. She also served as Regent of the Our Lady of the Pines Circle from 1993-1995. She is survived by 3 daughters, Jacqueline (James) Instone of Bowling Green, Judy (James) Redenbo of Toledo, Janice (James) Stricker of Helena; 2 sons James (Betty) Hoffman of Helena and Joe Hoffman of Fremont; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandsons; siblings, Martin Sheets, Irene Zipfel and Coletta Sheets all of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rosalie Gladieux, Agnes Van Doren, Esther Batt, Mary Kuhn and Hildonna Hesselschwardt; brothers, Joseph and Wesley and Paul Sheets. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, July 10, 2-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where vigil services will begin at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville. Rev. Ted Miller will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, Sandusky; St. Bernadine Home, Fremont; or St. Mary's Church.
