Gibsonburg resident and former police officer, James O. Wymer, 55 died at his home on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, succumbing to cancer. He was born on August 11, 1956 in Fremont to Wilbur & June (Gschwind) Wymer. Jim graduated in 1974 from Fremont Ross High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam Era from May 5, 1975 to May 4, 1979 and four years in the Reserves. He later worked as a truck driver for Reino Linen Service and 23 years as a Gibsonburg Police Officer. Jim was a member of the Fremont Baptist Temple and a fomer member of the Gibsonburg American Legion and the G.V.F.D. On June 21, 1980 he married Constance Waitman. They renewed their wedding vows on December 15, 1999. Constance survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Shonda (Michael) Butler of Fremont, Shannon Smith and Jason (Andrea) Smith both of Gibsonburg; siblings, Warren Wymer of Bellevue, George Wymer of Fremont, Jack (Marilyn) Wymer of Maumee and Laura Topel of Swanton; grandchildren, Michael, Kristie, Chelsea, Ashley, Justin, Kayle and Alyssa; 3 step grandchildren, Rochelle, Alexandra and Jeramiah; and 1 step great grandchild, Aryana. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Decker. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012, 4-8 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg where services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20. Pastor Gary Click will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow at Four Mile House Cemetery.
