Former Gibsonburg resident, Ruth M. Richter, 77, died Monday morning, Sept. 24, 2012, at Heartland Hospice of Perrysburg. Ruth was born on Apr. 17, 1935 in Fremont to Alfred J. and Marian L. (Mauch) Schroeder. A 1953 graduate of Woodville High School, she married Dale H. Richter on June 21, 1953 in Woodville. Together they worked on their farm and were members of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg. Dale passed on Jan. 9, 1999. Ruth was also a member of the Young Farm Wives, a 4-H Advisor of the Dolly Madison 4-H Club, a member of the Gibsonburg Post of the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing and making quilts. Surviving her is her mother, Marian L. Schroeder; children Gerald L. (Marty) of Defiance, James D. of Bettsville, David A. (Robin) of Gibsonburg and Diane S. Lang of Bowling Green; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and brothers Howard J. (Penny) Schroeder of Fremont and Robert A. (Mary) Schroeder of Gibsonburg. She is preceded in death by her father and husband. Friends and family will be received on Sunday, Sept. 30, 1-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg. Services will be Monday, Oct. 1, 10:30 a.m., at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg where there will be an additional hour of visiting prior to the service. Rev. Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the care of the family or to a charity of the donor's choice.
