Dorothy Ann (Sleek) Ickes went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully with her three daughters and family by her side on October 17, 2012 after a long battle with COPD. Born in Helena, Ohio on September 9, 1941 she was one of fifteen children. She was born to William and Ardella Sleek who preceded her in death. Dorothy attended Risingsun High School. She was employed by Ottawa Rubber in Bradner, Budd Company in North Baltimore and Lear Corporation in Bowling Green. She married Kenneth Ickes in November of 1974 and they later divorced. Dorothy was a loving Christian mother of three daughters; June (Bradley) Dix of Gibsonburg, Julie (Jeffrey) Soncrant of Huber Heights, Ohio, Ardella (Joe) Martinez of Gibsonburg and step-daughter; Becky Bowen of Bradner. She was also a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren; Craig Dix, Kristen Dix, Justin Soncrant, Stephanie Soncrant, Ryan Martinez, Braden Martinez, Jordan Martinez and Ben Nagy who were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to her brothers play music, hosting family gatherings and watching the Price is Right. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Woodbine Chapter and she attended Victory Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Goldie Bowers, Lucy Sleek, brothers; Wilbur, Raymond, Harry and Tex Sleek. Surviving siblings: Ada Mae Meyers of Bradner, Ray (Sue) Sleek of Helena, Tony (Lola) Sleek of Millbury, Gene (Shirley) Sleek of Gibsonburg, Ned (Carolyn) Sleek of Curtice, Roy (Sally) Sleek of Fremont, Earl (Tammy) Sleek of Fostoria and Nancy (Terry) Biddle of Kansas all of Ohio. The family would also like to thank the staff of Windsor Lane Health Care Center, Easter Seals of Northwest Ohio and Hospice of Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2 PM with additional visitation from 12-2 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Robles officiating. Memorials can be made to Easter Seals, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or to the family.
