Richard J. "Dick" Hoffman, 83 of Fremont passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 2, 1929 in Fremont to Harold & Helen (Yingling) Hoffman. Dick graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1947 and Terra Community College studying Electo-Mechanical Engineering. On May 15, 1954 he married his friend and sweetheart Conceta "Jeff" Ruggiero at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg and she survives. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War stationed in Korea and Japan. Dick was an owner of Valley Electric. He was a 3rd & 4th Degree K of C, lifetime member of the VFW Post, IBEW Local #8 for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family at his cottage, playing eurche, boating and wintering in Naples, FL with his wife of 58 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving are his children; Maralyn McNally of Mt. Clemens, MI, Barb (Steve) Miller, Tom (Pegi) Hoffman, Matt (Wendy) Hoffman all of Fremont, grandchildren; Sarah (Jake) Rumble, Jessica & Rebecca McNally, Adam (Rachel) Miller, Carrie (Rob) Golden, Bethany &Kathryn Miller, Emalee (Daniel) Pedroza, Alex, Chris & Nick Hoffman and Haley Hoffman. He is also survived by 4 ½ great-grandchildren; Tori & Emma Miller, Drew Golden and Jake Rumble, Jr., along with his sister; Patricia (David) Jenkins of Littleton, CO and his twin brother; Robert (Peggy) Hoffman of Wooster, OH. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister; Maralyn. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2-4 & 6-8 PM with a wake service that evening with Deacon Jim Hammer. A mass will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Zacharias officiating. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion and VFW Posts. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernardine Home, Our Lady of The Pines Retreat Center, Birchard Library, Sandusky County Positive People or to the charity of the donor's choice.
