Lifelong Gibsonburg resident, Jackson K. "Jack" Baker, Sr., 72 died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. Born in Gibsonburg on May 29, 1940, Jack was a son to the now deceased Orlo A. and Evenal "Peggy" L. (Down) Baker. He graduated from Gibsonburg in 1959 and later served in the Army during Vietnam, being honorably discharged in May 1968. He returned to Gibsonburg where he was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and became a life member of the Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department and a life member of the Gibsonburg Post of the American Legion. Jack worked an inspector for Chrylser for over 33 years, retiring in November 2001. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and is remembered for playing softball with his GVFD team. Jack married Sandra "Sandy" Kutzli in Gibsonburg on July 8, 1960. She survives. Also surviving are their children Lois (Mario) Garcia of Oak Harbor, Teresa (Jeff) Dute of Woodville, Laura (Carlos) Mendoza of Gibsonburg and Jackson (Michelle) Baker, Jr. of Columbus; 9 grandchildren; and siblings Billy Zimmerman of Fremont, Jerry (Bev) Baker of Fremont, Glennie (Don) Rife of Fostoria, and Danny (Sue) Baker of Gibsonburg. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois Baker and Shirley Chandler; and brother-in-law, Bob Zimmerman. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, November 8, 4-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Max Ulderich officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department or to Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
