Donald "Donnie" E. Rife, 72, of Fostoria died Friday afternoon, November 16, 2012 at the Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born on November 9, 1940 in Woodside, Ohio to the now deceased Robert and Alice (Lippert) Rife. He attended the former Montgomery Local High School in Wayne, Ohio and later served in the US Army and the Reserves, being honorably discharged in 1965. Afterwards, he held several occupations, working at the Seneca Wire Company in Fostoria, being an owner/operator of his trucking company and lastly as a infrared burner welder and repairman at the J.F.Swinehart Company in Fostoria. Donnie enjoyed fishing and spending good times with his family and friends, being known as "The Old Man". In his later years he was entertained by watching old westerns and gameshows. Donnie was a former member of the Bradner American Legion, the Am Vets, Moose and Eagles in Fostoria. On December 24, 1987, he married Glendolyn "Glennie" Baker. She survives. Also surviving are children, Paula Rife of North Baltimore, Cynthia Weaver of Sylvania, Doug Rife (Jennifer Fairbanks) of Fostoria, Matt Rife of West Millgrove, Greg (Carol) and Robert (Rhonda) and Tony Rife all of Fostoria, Kenneth Fairbanks, Jr. of Oregon, Steven Fairbanks of CO, Michael (Joanna) Fairbanks of Gibsonburg, and Randy (Laura) Fairbanks of Toledo; 28 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and sisters Janet (Virgil) Love of Elmore, Barb Baney of N. Baltimore, Janet Bateson of Wayne, Kathy Baumer of Fostoria, Becky Beard of Findlay and Jolynn Tyson of Perrysburg; brothers, Larry Tyson of Bradner and Tom Tyson of Fostoria; an aunt, Linda Rife of Fostoria. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Nancy Corbin, two grandchildren, Bradey A. and Chelsie M. Weaver Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 4-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. Betty Wineland will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to the care of Donnie's family.
