Walter G. Haynes, 94, of Fremont, died at his home on Wednesday November 21, 2012. He was born on September 14, 1918 in Fremont to George and Theresa (Walters) Haynes. Walter was a 1936 graduate of St Joseph High School in Fremont, and served in the U.S. Army from 1942 - 1946. On January 28, 1944, he married Mary E. Stierwalt at St. Ann Church in Fremont. In 1982 he retired from Geo Haynes and Sons. Walter was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and a member of St. Ann Church in Fremont. Walter volunteered at Fremont Memorial Hospital and Hayes Presidential Center. He continued to carry mobile meals for the hospital up until his 90th birthday. Walter enjoyed gardening, woodworking and was an avid reader. Surviving are children, Patrick (Nancy) Haynes of Fremont, Timothy (Bonnie) Haynes of St. Michaels, Maryland, Dennis (Terri) Haynes of Richmond, Virginia, Daniel (Nancy) Haynes of Hesperia, California, Kevin (Linda) Haynes of Lombard, Illinois, Maureen (Thomas) Parman of Fremont, and Ann (Kim) Stiger of Oak Harbor; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Theresa Marie; great granddaughter Brittnay Haynes; and siblings Bob, Jim, Betty and Shirley. Visitation will be on Sunday November 25, 2012 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2-4pm & 6-8pm with a wake service that evening. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday November 26, 2012 at St Ann's Catholic Church at 10:30 am with Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont with military rites provided by American Legion and V.F.W. posts. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church or to the charity of the donor's choice in Walter's memory.
