Gibsonburg resident, David Alton Nighswander, 53, died Monday morning, December 31, 2012 at the Cleveland Clinic. David was born on April 12, 1959 in Lakeland, Florida to Alton and Darlene (Jeanette) Nighswander. Upon graduating from St. Francis Catholic High School in Tiffin, he went on to obtain an Associates' Degree in electric engineering from the Terra Community College in Fremont. He worked as an electrical engineer supervisor for Durr Ecoclean, Inc. in Bowling Green. He was employed there for over 28 years, until the onset of his illness. David loved talking politics and enjoyed fishing, golfing with his Dad and brother, trap shooting and NASCAR. He is remembered as a "grill master and smoker", using just the right amount of spice. On June 16, 2004, he married Amy Randolph in Las Vegas. She survives. Also surviving is his father, Alton of Fostoria; his previous wife, Lynette Nighswander; daughters Rachael (Tony Valenti) Nighswander and Nicole Nighswander all of Tiffin; step son Eric Dibling of BG; grandsons Aidan Valenti and Evan Bucklew; and siblings Bridget (Jim) Gates of Republic and Scott (Cara) Nighswander of Waterville. David is preceded in death by his mother, Darlene and an infant son, Aaron David Nighswander. Visitation will be on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 1-3 & 5-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg, where funeral services will be on Saturday, January 5, 2013, 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort.
