George W. Wallace, 75, of Burgoon, Ohio, passed away, Friday evening, January 4, 2013 at the Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont. He was born on April 15, 1937 in Scotch Ridge, OH to the now deceased Ralph and Marguerite (March) Wallace. After graduating from Webster High School, he obtained his bachelors' degree from The Ohio State University, majoring in Animal Science and Agricultural Education and a member of the Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity. After college he joined and served six years with the Ohio National Guard, Buckeye Division. He later worked for the United States' Farm Service Agency in Columbus. George will most be remembered having taught Vocational Agriculture at Gibsonburg High School, Vanguard Vocational School and at Wauseon High School. George was a member of the Burgoon United Methodist Church, the Ohio and Sandusky County Farm Bureau, the Ohio and Sandusky County Farmers Union, the Sandusky County and Ohio Cattlemen's Associations, the American, Ohio and Black Swamp Angus Associations, the Lakota Young Farmers, the Ohio Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association and the Ohio Teachers Association. On December 29, 1962, George married Roma Fisher. She survives. Also surviving is son G. William "Bill" (Cherri) Wallace of Gibsonburg; daughter Sandra Wallace of Kansas, OH; grandchildren Nicole and Nathan Wallace of Gibsonburg and Samantha Wallace of Kansas, OH; siblings Mary Chipman Van Horn of Mt. Gilead, OH and Ann (Larry) Hayward of Hillsboro, TX; and several nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by his parents and brothers R. David and Roy A. Wallace. A Celebration Of Life will be held Monday January 14, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where family and friends will be welcomed on Sunday, January 13, 5-8 p.m. and again on Monday morning beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
