Lifelong Gibsonburg resident, Kathryn M. Hoffman, 86, passed away Tuesday evening, February 19, 2013 at the Gardens at Clyde. Kathryn was born in Gibsonburg on March 23, 1926 to Dale M. and Zella (Stausmire) Zimmerman. She graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1944 and married Russell Hoffman on October 25, 1947 at St. Michael's Church Rectory. Russell died on July 16, 2001. Kate was a homemaker. She supported her children in their younger years by volunteering for over 17 years as a Boy Scout Den Mother and was also a 4-H Advisor. She loved to bowl and was once on leagues at both the Woodville and Elmore Bowling Lanes. Kate enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She will be most remembered for the time she spent with her husband, Russell, on the weekend trips to Lake Erie; boating; fishing; and visiting the islands with friends. They also enjoyed travelling throughout the U.S. and Mexico in their motor home. Surviving are children: Cathy (David) Wassil, Cheri (Jerry) Lawrence, Mark Hoffman, and Gale (Susan) Hoffman all of Gibsonburg; six grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and sister Doris (Richard) Butler. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dale; and sisters, Jane Schlea and Mary Perry. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 25, 11:00 a.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where family and friends will be received Sunday 1-5 p.m. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorials may be made to the Gardens at Clyde, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or to the donor's choice.
