Wayne E. Druckenmiller, 90 of Fremont, died on Wednesday, March 06, 2013 at his home. He was born on January 28, 1923 in Green Springs, OH to Chester and Beatrice (Earhart) Druckenmiller. Wayne attended school in Riley Township. On February 28, 1942 he married Margie L. Cooley at Grace Lutheran Church and she survives. They just celebrated their 71st Wedding Anniversary. Wayne was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and served on Church council as well as being an usher. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific from 1943 - 1946 earning the Asiatic-pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation, Good Conduct and Victory Medals. As a Mess Sergeant, he prepared food for and fed 140 military personnel. He prepared menus, made requisitions, inspected supplies for condition and kept records of supplies, equipment and mess account. For thirty months he served as a cook. Wayne was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, especially his roses, and camping for many years. Wayne worked at Clyde Porcelain-Steel, retiring in 1981. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Richard "Rick" (Ruth) Druckenmiller of Deerfield, NH, Alan (Christine) of Wilbraham, MA and Kevin (Mary Ann) of Fremont; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Lunetta Smetzler of Tiffin also survives. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings-Elizabeth Platt, Eloise Burmeister, Virginia Nehls and Eldon Druckenmiller; grandson, Joe. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Jody Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde with military rites being performed by the VFW and American Legion Post. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stein Hospice or to the Grace Lutheran Church Elevator Fund in Wayne's memory.
