Robert "Gus" Ferguson, 83, of Gibsonburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Elmwood at the Springs in Green Springs, Ohio. Robert was born in Fremont on October 23, 1929 to Joseph and Hattie (Engler) Ferguson. He graduated from Fremont Ross in 1948. Known as a long time jeweler in Gibsonburg, Gus also worked as a maintenance mechanic for Ohio Lime in Woodville for 10 years and at Hayes-Albion in Tiffin for an additional 15 years, retiring in 1985. He served and was Honorably Discharged from both the U. S. Navy and Army in the early 1950's. Gus was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg and a lifetime member of the Sandusky County Sportsman's Club. Surviving are children, Michael (Jan) of Cuyahoga Falls and Timothy (Tammie) of Clyde; grandchildren, Kristina (Eddie) Ahlstrom, Shawn Ferguson and Tara (Jon) Leib; 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis (Charles) Eberhardt of Fremont. Gus is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Harry, Herb, Gary, Donald and Howard; sister, Beatrice Pickens; and his former spouse, Lucy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, 5-8p.m., at the Herman- Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg where services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00a.m. Burial will take place at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
