Steven D. Nighswander, 46 of Oak Harbor, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Steve was born in Fremont on November 19, 1966 to John and Susan (Anstead) Nighswander. In 1985, he graduated from Fremont Ross and then attended The Ohio State University. Steve was a crane operator for Ohio Operating Engineers Local #18 and a part time farmer. Steve was a member of Lindsey United Methodist Church, Lindsey Boosters 4-H Club, Fremont FFA, Fremont Young Farmers, the Cub Scouts and Lindsey Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing with nieces and nephews, going to the casino and visiting with family and friends. Steve loved fishing with his work pals, and gardening. Surviving are his parents of Lindsey, brother, Mike (Charlene) Nighswander of Elmore; sister, Lori (Steve) Crispen of Lindsey; nieces and nephews, Travis & Clay Crispen and Mackenzie & Jordan Nighswander; special friend, Kathy Burgess. Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents, Virginia (Anstead) Gahn, Carl Gahn, Haven Anstead, and Virgil & Irene Nighswander. Memorial Services will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont on Wednesday, April 10th at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Robert Metheny will officiate. Family and friends will be welcomed on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 2- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steve's memory may be made to the Sandusky County Junior Fair or to the Lindsey Volunteer Fire Department.
