Charles Hammer

October 10, 1935 — April 6, 2013

Charles Richard Hammer 77 of Burgoon passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family after his courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born October 10, 1935 to Charles & Mary (Kimmet) Hammer in Helena, Ohio. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville. He met the love of his life Shirley Ann Schreiner and married her on November 16, 1957. They were married 55 wonderful years and lived in Burgoon. Richard was in the National Guard and continued his years as a life long farmer. He had a great love of the land and animals. He also had knowledge of technology as he built his first computer. He was always ready to lend a hand as a carpenter and willing to help any neighbors. Richard is survived by his loving wife Shirley who was continuously by his side. He is also survived by his five children, their spouses and grandchildren; son; Jeff (Ling) and their children; Charlie, Jamie & Fuyao, son; Kenny (Betty) and their children, Lucas, Cori and Dan all of Helena, daughter; Patti Kreilick and her children; Kurtis Kurtis of Gibsonburg, Karri (Erik) of San Diego, CA; son, Don (Deb) and their daughter; Haley of Bettsville, daughter; Kim (Kevin) Mowry, and their daughter; Kyla of Delaware, OH, his brother; Tom (Kim) of Texas and their children; Tracy (Eric) and Troy (Melisa) and their families, and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Mary Hammer and his son Danny along with three infant siblings. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4 & 6-8 PM with a wake service at 3:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Millersville. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Millersville with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, St. Mary's Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.
