FREMONT: Rodney Stephen Hotz, 70, of Fremont Ohio passed away on, Sunday April 21, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Fremont on November 25, 1942 to Norbert J. and Dorothy M. (Burgoon) Hotz and he lived his entire life in Fremont. He was educated at Saint Ann's elementary and Saint Joseph's High School where he graduated in 1960. Rodney worked at the Fremont Foundry and Tischler's Gas Station before beginning employment at Whitey's Automotive. He purchased Whitey's Automotive in 1974 and retired in 2008 after 36 years as a business owner in the community. He was a lifelong member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church, and held memberships in the Loyal Order of Moose since 1967 and the Fremont Elks Lodge since 1981. He was also a previous board member of the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce serving as the President of the Visitors Bureau. He was an accomplished mechanic and woodworker who enjoyed gardening, golfing and spending time with family and loved ones who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Shiley) Hotz of Fremont, sister Patricia (Hotz) Wasserman and husband Dan of Fremont, brother Philip Hotz and wife Linda of Fremont, brother Gregory Hotz and wife Allison of Springfield, VA, son Tony Hotz and wife Jennifer of Fremont, daughter Pamela (Hotz) Taylor and Husband Zachery of Cincinnati, son Samuel Hotz and wife Maryhelen of California, MD, step-daughter Tina Carter and fiancé Greg Roush of Helena, and step-daughter Tonia (Carter) Bollenbacher and husband Jim of Fremont. He had eight grandchildren, T.J. and Chris Hotz, Britany, Trent and Haley Taylor, Grady and Samantha Hotz and Jared Katz and two great grandchildren, Cloie and Carlie Hotz. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Normalea T. (Hotz) Kelbley. Visitation: Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 900 North Street, Fremont Ohio 43420 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Saint Ann's Catholic Church, 1011 W State Street, Fremont, OH 43420 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Jacob Gordon officiating.
