Karen Mae Springer, 71, of Fremont, passed away early Friday, May 10, 2013 at her home. Born in Woodville on January 25, 1942, she was the daughter of Cecil and Matilda (Aldrich) Peck. Karen graduated from Woodville High School in 1960. In 1962 she married Gary Canode Sr. After his sudden passing she married Richard H. Springer in 1988. Karen worked for Reino Cleaners and Belaire Cleaners as a laborer. She enjoyed yard work, antiques, interior decorating and traveling. She was a member of New Hope Vineyard Church. Karen is survived by children, Christopher (Carrie) Canode of Elmore, Kelly (John) Van der Laar of Helena & Gary (Jeannie) Canode of Gibsonburg; step-daughters, Dawn (LeRoy) Wheeler, Angie (Ed) Kelly, Jodi (Bob) Weichman and Misty Dayringer; 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and siblings, Leta Shaffer, Mary Kipplin and Charlie Peck. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sisters, Shirley Constantini and Janice Gabel. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 2-4p.m. & 6-8p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday 11:00a.m. with one hour of visitation held prior to the service. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg, Rev. Jim Gippert officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice.
