Former Kansas, Ohio resident, Joyce Marie (Hawk) Haubert, 67, died at her Houston, Texas home on Thursday morning, May 30, 2013 under the care of hospice. Born in Fostoria, Ohio on June 1, 1945, she is a daughter of the late Harry and Augusta (Smiley) Hawk, Sr. She graduated from Lakota High School in 1963 and later attended courses at Terra Community College in Fremont. In 1965, she married Walter John Haubert, II at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Millersville. Walter survives. Joyce formerly worked at the Memorial Hospital in Fremont, where she was a surgical technician for over twenty five years. After relocating to Texas, she worked as a sterilization technician at the Christus St. Catherine Hospital in Katy, Texas. She retired in 2010. Joyce was a member of the former St. James Catholic Church in Kansas, Ohio where she was very active in the altar rosary society and a lay communion distributor. She was a current member of the St. Edith Stein Catholic Church where she served as an usher. She loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for her baking cookies, breads and pies. She enjoyed collecting "Depression Glass", McCall Pottery and tea pots. In addition to her husband, Joyce is survived by children, Nancy (Bob) Gosche of Katy, TX, Mary (Kurt) Brewer of Risingsun, Danny (Mitzi) Haubert of Fremont, Laura (Ben) Walkup of Pioneer, OH and Kevin (Rebecca) Haubert of Glendale, AZ; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and sisters, Phyllis (Earl) Broadwater of Kansas, OH and Margie (Bob) Bergstedt of Fostoria. She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Lesa Marie Gosche and brother Harry Hawk, Jr. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 2-8 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, 10:00 a.m., at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
