Ernest S. Tolento, 94, of Fremont, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Countryside Continuing Care, Fremont. He was born on May 9, 1919 in Michoacan, Mexico to Rafael and Olivia (Rubio) Tolento. In 1936 Ernest came to Fremont with his parents to work in the sugar beets. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1939. From 1943- 1946 he served in the United States Army in WWII in the infantry division. Ernest married long time sweetheart, Roberta Garcia on June 27, 1946 at St. Ladis Laus Church in Lorain. Ernest worked for the railroad in earlier years. After moving to Fremont Ernest was hired by General Electric in Tiffin. He worked there for 28 years and retired in 1981. He was very active in the church, enjoyed music and played the guitar and harmonica. He built the home they lived in and enjoyed "country life". Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Roberta; daughters, Cynthia Colombo of Estacada, OR, Cecelia Chaney of Salem, OR and Esther Young of Tiffin; Siblings; Rafael "Ralph" (Grace) of Fostoria, Alfred (Delores) of Florida, Sr. Sarah Tolento of Missouri, Salvador (Carmen) of Arizona, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ferdinand ,Anna, Robert Arthur, and infant twins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1st from 4-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Fremont with Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Military services will be held immediately following the service in the church parking lot. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Calvary Cemetery, 555 N. Ridge Rd E., Lorain, Ohio, 44055. Memorials may be made to the Sandusky County Food Pantry.
