Dorothy M. Driftmyer, 96, formerly of Gibsonburg, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Valley View Health Care Center, Fremont. She was born on November 9, 1916 in Helena, OH to Ervin and Julia (Petersen) Callihan. Dorothy was a 1933 graduate of Clay High School. On May 10, 1941 she married Walter L. Driftmyer in Toledo and he preceded her in death in January 1981. Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg, the Zion Women and the Zion Choir. She also was a member of the Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy was a kindred spirit to her special friend, Mary Brown of Gibsonburg. She was a hairdresser for many years and a homemaker. Surviving is a daughter, Gretchen E. Driftmyer of Port Huron, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Roma Stults and Gloria Popp. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.at Zion Lutheran Church with 1 hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Church in Dorothy's memory.
