Russell Clifford Sleek, 49 of Gibsonburg passed away suddenly at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Sandusky on October 15, 1963 to Raymond & Sharon (Ball) Sleek. Russell attended EHOVE Joint Vocational school for Auto Collision Repair, but dropped out his senior year. He worked in various body shops for 18 years perfecting his skills and obtaining numerous job related certifications. Russell obtained his GED in February 1999, then he attended the University of Toledo obtaining his teaching certificate, which began his teaching career. On September 27, 1986 he married Katie Wilson and she survives in Gibsonburg. Russell enjoyed spending time with his family & friends especially his grandson Brayden. He was a member of Grace Community Church, Sandusky Co. Sportsman Club, the NRA, National Muzzle Loading Assoc. (NMLA), Single Action Shooting Society (SASS), and enjoyed Cowboy Action Shooting events as the alias "Tommy Newton". Russell also enjoyed his Goldwing motorcycle, fishing, shooting and he had just recently participated in his first long range match this past Saturday which he was very proud of his results. Russell took great pride in being a Christian role model and mentor. He loved his job and took this mentoring role very seriously. He worked as an Auto Collision instructor at Vanguard Sentinel for 14 years. Surviving Russell is his wife; Katie of Gibsonburg, children; Alexandria Sleek of Gibsonburg, Brittney (Mark Poupard) Sleek of Toledo, Stephanie Sleek of Fremont, grandson; Brayden, brother; Randy (Heather) Sleek, nephew Cameron Sleek and niece Ava of Sandusky. Russell is also survived by his mother Sharon Sleek of Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his father, and grandson; Jaiyden. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4 & 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at the funeral at 11AM with Pastor Daniel Dundore officiating. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
