Janet Koch, 86, passed away in her home, Saturday, September 7, 2013. She was born on December 29, 1926 to Charles and Mabel (Irwin) Baron in Delaware, OH. Janet graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1945, and attended Bowling Green State University for a year. She married Donald Koch on May 25, 1953 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clyde, OH, and they were married for 55 years until he passed on December 8, 2008. Janet held many jobs, starting first at the Telephone Co., and then at Whirlpool in the Personnel Department. She was a devoted mother who worked part time waitressing so that she could be at home with her kids. She worked at Bud & Brutus, Green Hills Golf Course, Fort Stevenson, Clardon's and Wagner's (for over 25 years) Country Inn until she retired in 1993. After retirement, Janet was a babysitter and did volunteer work, especially for the National Opinion Research Center of Chicago. She took real estate classes, and worked as a poll worker for the county Board of Elections. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, cooking, interior decorating, and traveling (she was a "rolling stone"!). Her greatest joy, however, came from being a devoted mother and grandmother. Janet is survived by her children; Jacqi and Kim Koch, both of Fremont, and Jayne (Scott) Williams, of Tiffin, OH: grandchildren; Van and Riley Williams: brother; Richard (Tootie) Baron of Cohutta, GA: sisters-in-law, Myrtle Koch of Fremont, Isabell "Marty" Koch of Bellevue, OH and many nieces and nephews, plus great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Kristopher; her parents, and in-laws, Edward and Nora (Sawyer) Koch; siblings, Charles Baron, Jeanne (Edward) Bruno, Jack Baron and brothers and sisters -in-law, whom she loved. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont, from 4pm-7pm. Funeral service will be Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 1pm, at the funeral home with Rev. Brenda Hurley-Shank officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank Stein Hospice for their excellent care. The compassion and kindness of the nurses and aides will always be appreciated and remembered.
