Charles "Charlie" Graber, 74, of Helena died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2013, at the Toledo Hospital. Born in Kansas, OH on July 20, 1939, Charlie was a son of the now deceased Alfred and Lona (Bennett) Graber. He graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1957 and worked for Jim Dennis Construction for over 30 years. Throughout his life, Charlie developed many friendships. He was well known in the Helena and Gibsonburg communities in part due to his 40 year membership in the Gibsonburg Saddle Club, the Mens' Rack & Cue League in which he played for Hoy's in Gibsonburg, and a former member of the Fremont Eagles and honorary member of the Tri-State Rodeo Association. He enjoyed fishing, was a big OSU, Cleveland sports and nascar fan. He especially loved animals, his horses and his pet dog, BJ. On Aug. 27, 1960, Charlie married Jean Ickes in Gibsonburg. She survives. Also surviving are children, Charles Jay Graber of Helena, Lori (Glenn) Moore of Wayne, Jody (Alan) Jans of KS and Amy Graber of Helena; grandchildren, Megan, Nicole and Erin; step-grandchildren, Carrie, Jason and Alex; and siblings, Kay Wilcox and Janet (Richard) Peters all of Columbus, Lee Graber of Maumee, Les (Billie) Graber of Fostoria and Al Graber of B.G.. He is preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services where a Time of Remembrance will begin at 1 p.m. Reverend Robin Hindall of the Elmore Church of God will officiate. Burial will be at Scott Trinity Cemetery in Kansas, OH at a later date. Contributions in Charlie's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. or the charity of the donor's choice.
