George Vastag, Jr., 51 of Fremont passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Toledo Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1962 in Fremont to George & Angela (Escobedo) Vastag, Sr. George was a 1981 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He served in the Army during peacetime. George owned the Nonstop Music Store in downtown Fremont, he also worked for the City of Fremont Street Department and Crown Battery. He put together three charity events with tribute bands to raise money for local charities. Twenty years ago he put together a Mosh Fest at the fairgrounds and the American Legion. He was a die- hard KISS fan and loved Rock & Roll Music. Computers were a passion of his. George enjoyed drag racing NHRA in Norwalk. He was a great man. Surviving are his fiancée, Henri Diane Martin of Fremont; children, Steven (Myrella) Vastag and Heather (Ryan Mosser) Vastag both of Fremont; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Mosser, Sonny Mosser, George Vastag and Olivia Vastag; his parents of Fremont; siblings, Arnie Escobedo of Fremont, Roger Vastag of Green Springs, Marvin Vastag of Clyde and Rhonda Vastag of Bettsville. Visitation will be on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Tuesday at the funeral at 11 a.m. with military rites provided by the VFW and American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Anas Balaa, Dr. John Yuhas, Dr. Jennifer Brown and their staff, and a special thank you to Amber Pump and to the ICU nurses at Memorial Hospital for their care of George during this difficult time.
